Teacher Tag: Miss Vinnicombe
Teacher Tag, an interview conducted by Ruwan and Harper with Ms. Vinnicombe, the school's Assistant Principle.
Where did you go for High School?
I went to Echuca High School.
Where is that?
It is on the Murry River. It is 200 kilometres North of Melbourne. Back then, the population was about 9000 people.
What is your best memory from High School?
Um.. Camps and Friends
Who were your role models in High School?
When I was at school, I was inspired by my French Teacher, my English Teacher and my Methods Teacher.
Why did they inspire you?
Because they were really, really committed and even though we weren’t a very good school in many ways and had a terrible principal, they stepped outside the box a little bit and made it possible for us to do some really cool things like play basketball against other schools and come to Melbourne and they worked outside hours to make things possible for us.
Wow, they seem like awesome teachers, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Um.. I like to keep active, and I cycle and I got to the beach a lot. I also surf a little. And, yeah.
Haha, I have tried to surf but I kept falling of the board! I am going to stick with boogie-boarding. Where are some places that you have been too?
I have been to Japan, which I really liked. I have been to Botswana in Africa and that was pretty cool as well. I have also been to lots of places in Europe. I also had a really long cycling holiday where we rode 500 km.
Did you do the Great Victorian Bike Ride?
Yeah, I have done that three times.
I did that last year. It’s awesome.
Yeah it's great.
What’s your favourite book or movie?
“To Kill a Mocking Bird” is my favourite book and my favourite movie is “The Castle.”
What do you do as the Assistant Principal?
I take care of all the sub-schools, student wellbeing, the PSD program, excursions and writing on the school review.
Thanks to Ms. Vinnicombe for taking the time for this interview
